Wells Fargo just launched a new rewards credit card.

The new Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card has no annual fee and earns 3X rewards on select categories based on daily spending, including travel and public transportation, popular streaming services, and phone plans. Plus 1X rewards on other purchases. And if rising inflation has increased the cost of your travels or nights out, the card also earns you 3X points at restaurants and gas stations.

The Autograph Card is the latest from Wells Fargo, following the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card (one of our favorite credit cards with cash rewards) and the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card (one of the longest balance transfer offers available today), both of which were announced in 2021.

Here’s what else you can expect from the Autograph card and how it could fit into your own card portfolio:

The card is also a Visa Signature card, which comes with a few additional benefits. You’ll enjoy purchase and travel protections and access to Concierge Service and the Luxury Hotel Collection.

Should You Consider The Wells Fargo Autograph Card?

Editorial independence

As with all of our credit card reviewsour analysis is not influenced by any advertising partnership or relationship.

Whether or not the Autograph card is worth adding to your wallet largely depends on your spending habits. It earns 3X rewards — a solid rate among other no-annual-fee rewards cards and cash back cards — across multiple spend categories that can help you maximize both travel and home spend.

For example, if you travel a few times a year but not enough to warrant a more premium travel card with an annual fee, the rewards you earn booking with your card could add up to future savings – and you’ll get protections. of travel . The card is also a good choice if you’re spending more on commuting, as you’ll earn unlimited 3X points on gas.

Autograph card rewards are good, but they are not unique among many other reward cards in the market. Many of our current picks for the best cash back cards and credit cards offer comparable rewards in common categories and may be better suited to your spending. Some of these cards offer more benefits and a higher rewards rate than the Autograph card. Also, if you already have a card with travel, gas, streaming, or dining rewards in your wallet, it might not make sense to double up on the same rewards categories.

For example, the Chase Freedom Unlimited® offers similar rewards with no annual fee – 5% back on travel booked through Chase, 3% on restaurants and pharmacies, and 1.5% on everything else – but also offers access to Chase Ultimate Rewards. Or a card like Wells Fargo’s fixed cash rewards option, the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card, can give you 2% cash rewards on purchases, without having to worry about bonus categories.

Before deciding on a new card, consider your own spending habits and where you shop the most. And remember, to maximize the value of any credit card, practice good credit habits, like paying your bill in full and on time each month to avoid high-interest debt and potentially hurting your credit score.
