Celtic enjoyed an exciting start to the summer transfer window by securing the services of Jota, Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers, who were expected to be high on the priority list for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The club have also finalized the signings of Alexandro Bernabei and Benjamin Siegrist.
The transfer window has been brilliant for the Hoops so far but not completely perfect as they missed out on signing Vinicius Souza. The club were believed to be keen on making a move for the Brazilian midfielder, as they search for a replacement for Nir Bitton. But he joined Espanyol on loan instead.
With Ismaila Soro also leaving the club on loan, it has now become a necessity for Celtic to strengthen their defensive midfield department. As a result, the Hoops seem to have turned their attention to Fausto Vera.
There is plenty of interest in the Argentine though, with Corinthians and Genk already believed to have failed in their attempts to sign him. As a result, it won’t be easy for Celtic to secure a deal for Vera down the line.
Celtic will have to pay a hefty transfer fee to sign Vera
As reported by Lance (via Daily recording), the offers on the table are in the region of €4m (£3.4m) and have been rejected. Argentinos Juniors appear to be expecting a transfer fee of around €6.5m (£5.5m) for their key man.
Quite versatile in the midfield area, Vera is quite good on both sides of his game. He can carry the ball down the field, pass through, is good at interrupting play and also has an occasional goal in him .
Thus, it’s not hard to see why Celtic might be looking to sign the midfielder this summer. Now, it remains to be seen whether they can strike a deal or not.
